New Richard Strauss Recording from Antoni Wit
December 13, 2007
Staatskapelle Weimar, conducted by Antoni Wit, recorded Richard Strauss’ Sinfonia Domestica for Naxos. The work will be coupled with Strauss’ Metamorphosen, already recorded in 2005. Antoni Wit and the Staatskapelle Weimar garnered excellent reviews for their recording of Strauss’ Alpine Symphony (Naxos 8.557811). The Guardian wrote: ‘Polish conductor Antoni Wit is one of Naxos’s great finds; a musician of tremendous passion and integrity, whose interpretations frequently outshine those of bigger names on other labels. It’s a performance of searing intensity… this is a phenomenal recording that ranks alongside the best.’
Sessions took place at the Weimarhalle, Weimar, Germany, and were produced and engineered in surround sound by Eckhard Glauche.
